“Establishment” politics has taken a major step backwards with the ascension of Marine Le Pen and Emmanuel Marcon to the run-off. The center right and far right candidates edged out the Republican candidate Francois Fillon and far-left leader Jean-Luc Melenchon to face-off in the run-off. This could and, like will, have far reaching concerns for the Euro.
France could face its own ‘Frexit’ in the future after far-right leader Marine Le Pen and independent centrist Emmanuel Macron beat the two main parties to go head to head in the upcoming presidential elections. Around 40 million votes have been tallied so far. France’s Interior Ministry says Macron is currently in the lead with 23.54 per cent, followed by Le Pen with 22.33 per cent.
